East Coast gain University Link

East Coast Futsal Club is to officially link up with Hull University next season.

This is excellent news for the club and something manager Steve Brennan, has been looking to do since East Coast formed in 2009.

John Prince the ‘Get into Football Officer’ has been pivotal in this and we thank him and also Steve Curtis, Sports Development Officer for the University of Hull for putting Futsal into the universities plans.

The club will look to form a partnership with players & use the universities facilities where possible, and also look at getting Hull Uni into the BUCS Futsal Championships 2011/12.

Crewsadors & Tranmere first up

East Coast Futsal will travel to Manchester on the 2nd October to play newly promoted Crewsadors in the first FA Futsal National league game of the 2011/12 Futsal Season.

Crewsadors beat Team Northumbria 6 v 5 in the playoff game after being 1 v 5 down at one point!

East Coast then take on Tranmere Victoria on the 16th October in the teams first home game. This promises to be an enthralling encounter after the 10 v 7 scoreline in the league las season and then unbelieveable 1 v 1 draw in the FA Futsal Cup.

Dublin Tour Results

Blue Magic 8 v 3 East Coast

A Luke Foster hat-rick was not enough to save East Coast from defeat.  Having taken on FIA Futsal finalists in Tallaght, Coast held 1 v 1 at half time.  The second half was also a close affair until the last 8 minutes.  Having just made it 4 v 3 the visitors crumbled in the latter stages conceding 4 goals in 5 minutes.

Foster become the first player abroad to hit 3 goals, his finishing & skill shining throughout.

A disappointing end but with only 6 fully fit and captain Brewster Frizzell recovering from flu, plus the journey it was a brave effort none the less!

Lifford FC  6 v 3  East Coast

An hour later and another game but this time the young East yorkshire team gave the brazilians a real scare.

County Clare champions Lifford took the lead after 5 mins but 2 quality strikes from 16 yr old Kieran Link, and a screamer from Frizzell handed the team a 1 v 3 advantage at half time.

Again though pressure told and after 10 mins in the second half Lifford struck, and made their possession count with well taken goals and very slick passing.

2 Great teams to play and one more to come, Dublin Santos Monday @ 8pm.

Dublin Santos  1 v 2  East Coast

East Coast produced a battling performance to win for the first time on tour.  Having played 2 games the previous day it was going to be tough for the 7 that travelled, however the team put into practiced what they had learnt from the previous nights international games to stun Santos.

Coast started well containing Santos giving few chances away and this paid dividends as Foster broke and hit a low shot under the Santos keeper.

Keeper Van Heerden then made a brilliant one handed save to deny the home team.  At half time a few words of encouragement from Ireland coach Stephen Finn helped focus the team, and after a few near misses Foster broke and put in Christlow at the back post for a tap in.

Almost immediately Santos hit back and it was then all Santos pressure in the last 5 minutes.  Player manager Brennan cleared off the line with 1 minute left and eventually the referee blew the final whistle on what was a great tour for the team.

Overall

The team has shown massive progress over the last year.  Having been so close in all 3 games, never behind at half time, showed that the team can compete at a high level.

17 year old Foster ended with 4 goals, Nick Van Heerden is looking a better keeper all the time and Josh Christlow is growing into the game more and more he is looking a great player.

Thanks again to Blue Magic, Lifford FC & Dublin Santos plus a big thakyou to Ireland Futsal & Stephen Finn for the match organisation and tickets to the international games.

Great day for East Coast U18 sqaud

Thanks to Leeds Futsal & Junior Roberti for thier hospitality today!

East Coast U18 sqaud recieve a buffet meal at Zara’s cafe in Leeds (Leeds Futsal sponsors) and then took centre stage as pre match entertainment before the Leeds v Tranmere National league game.

The squad of Kieran Link, Luke Foster, James Gunn, Ben Slade, Marc Edees and Glen Hopkins performed excellently together for the first time ever, running out 6 v 2 winners.  Goals from Foster, Gunn x 2, Hopkins x 2, & Edees rounded off a good display for the young side.

The team then watched a great game of Futsal Tranmere coming back for 4 v 1 down to win 6 v 7 at Leeds thanks to 2 10m penalties in the dying minutes.

Great day, food and games.  Thanks again Leeds Futsal Club!

Gunn & Robinson handed debuts

James Gunn & Ashley Robinson are preparing for their debut’s at National Futsal league level.

James Gunn, 17, has impressed in a recent Futsal event at Scarborough 6th Form college.  He also represents the Under 19 North of England side and plays for Pickering Town FC.

Ashley Robinson has been training for 3 weeks with the National league team.  He played 1 game for All Stars in the East Coast Futsal league but has now got the taste back.  His commitment, energy and finishing abilities will be welcome to the team and he deserves the opportunity to progress and show what he can do.

Both players are a boost to the team looking for the first points of the season.  It’s great the club are attracting interest and new players every week.

The game kicks off 2.30pm at the Greenbank Sports Academy complex in Liverpool.

Frizzell relishing Futsal Challenge

New club captain, Brewster Frizzell, is relishing his first ever season in the FA Futsal League.

The former Hull City star is making his way back into the game after a 8 month lay off but is finding his feet again.   “I am really looking forward to the rest of the season and also our big game on Sunday against Liverpool.”

“Its a tough league but all the lads are working hard in training and we want to give 100% on Sunday to get a positive result.  I am really enjoying the game and getting lots of the ball, I am enjoying it and am starting to find some form and added confidence in my game.”

Frizzell was given the armband after his commitment and views in training and is a well liked figure in the club.  He also added, ” its been a tough start but the attitude shown by the lads is great, never giving in and taking lots on board in our first season in the league.  We are all determined to do well and show what we can do this year”.

Dublin 2011 Announced

East Coast Futsal Club will travel to Dublin in January.  The club will play games over 23/24/25th Jan and watch Ireland in the Euro Qualifiers in Dublin.

It is the 2nd time the club will have travelled to the Emrald isle.  There is a long layoff with no league game in January so the club are going to learn and keep sharp with a huge 2011 in store for the team.  Further details will be given as to games and fixtures.

As usual the team will be up against excellent oppostion.  On the last tour the team played Shamrock Rovers, Alpha & St Patricks Futsal clubs.

East Coast Humbled by Victoria

Tranmere Victoria hit 18 past a young Easy Coast team.  It was a devastating second half performance which saw 13 goals scored.

The result finished 2 v 18 with only Stuart Wallace and Ryan Hunter scoring for the hosts.  It was a humbling experience for the East Coast team playing in their first ever home game in the National Futsal league.

East Coast Mananger, Steve Brennan has urged his team to become “more determined in defence” and also “learn quickly from the defeat”.

But no-body in the arena could have foreseen the 18 as the half time score was 0 v 5 to Tranmere.  It was a credit to Tranmere for their attacking display and discipline and it shows Coast what level is required in the league.

Next up is a must win game for Coast against a Liverpool team that also suffered a heavy defeat, 22 v 3 against Sheffield.

East Coast set for Tranmere Test

Sunday 28th November sees East Coast Futsal take on Tranmere Futsal at the Bonus Arena, Hull.

Tranmere are arguably one of the most successful teams in the country coming 2nd only 2 years ago and finishing 3rd in the North division last year.  Tranmere’s Ed Bryers scored against East Coast for Liverpool in last years play offs but the teams have yet to meet head to head.

Tranmere manager, Neil Thompson, has driven the game in this country for many years and Tranmere have played the likes of sporting Lisbon Futsal team.  It is sure to be a test for the young East Coast team!

Both teams come into the game off the back of a defeat so getting off the ,ark will be key for both clubs.

The game kicks off 12pm.  http://www.kcstadium.co.uk/arena/east-coast-futsal-club

All set for big kick off!

East Coast Futsal Club areset for the biggest game in the clubs short history.  On Sunday 21st November the club travel to Middlesbrough to play their first ever national league game.

The clubs first training session took place April 2009 and having already toured Ireland & Italy the team now embark on a new era, in the top division of English Futsal.

It is a fitting match as it was Damon Shaw, Middlesbrough’s Chairmen and Manager who helped pave the way for the club to start and his help was instrumental to the speed in which the team has set up.

It is a fitting first that we play Middlesbrough, the same place we played our first friendly game back in July 2009.

Apart from Josh Christlow, recovering from a chipped bone in his ankle, the team is at full strength and are anticipating a tough match.

The players are looking forward to the challenge this season, with goals being to learn from each team we play and improve as a team and individually as players.
