Middlesbrough Game reports

East Coast travelled to play BORO on Sunday in 2 friendly fixtures.

Middlesbrough  7  v  5  East Coast

The first saw the men’s team take on a mix of Boro first team, trialists and reserve players.

After a poor first half showing East Coast were down 4 v 1 but a more spirited display in the second, including a Jamie Osbrone hatrick, saw coast hit back.  Kieran Link also replied but Boro eventually came off winners 7 v 5.

Debutant from Whitby, Phil Spencer 19, impressed for East Coast which is good for the club.  With players from Scarborough, Whitby & Bridlington on show the club is extending its pull of players and is benefitting from the links that have been made.

Middlesbrough U 15′s   10  v  2  East Coast U 15′s

Middlesbrough were too strong for East Coast’s young team in their first ever game.  Coach Adam Stubbs has done a great job putting the team together in the last 3 months but inexpereince showed in their first game.

Middlesbrough took 2 or 3 fewer touches on the ball and passed it well to create opportunities which they took well.

East Coast had thier moments one 10 minute spell in the second half but could not find a way past the Boro keeper who produced a string a fine saves.

Thanks to Damon and the team for running the day for us.

East Coast face York University Test

York University bring a 13 man squad to Bridlington Sports Centre on Saturday, 5th June.

2 games are scheduled, kicking off 12pm – 2pm.  The games will be the first time since November that the 2 squads have played a matched against each other.  That was in the National League play offs which the University team won 2 v 0.

It is another good test for East Coast who continue to develop, and a good opportunity for the squad to further gel before the tour of Italy in July.

Team United Birmingham 15 v 9 East Coast Futsal

East Coast but up a spirited display against the current Midland National League leaders in Saturday’s friendly.  Full report to follow….

Real Mabrid’s Gerard Ferre produced a brilliant display for East Coast Futsal Club to score 5 goals in an exciting encounter at the North Solihull Sports Centre, Birmingham.

A team of 10 travelled also including Jamie Osborne from All Stars and Josh Beach from Snainton. Kieran Link, Ryan Hunter, Dan Marston, Ryan Goodworth, Joe Sunter, Luke Foster & Steve Brennan made up the rest of the squad.

It is Brennan’s aim to play the best possible competition before heading to the national league play offs in July and Team United Birmingham are high flying this year. Manager Ikhlaq Hussain has built a strong squad including former Premiership star Richard Sneekes, Engalnd Futsal players Nick Colley and Thomas Obasi as well as influential captain Emanual Guayas.

East Coast flew out of the traps and went into a 1 v 3 lead, 2 from Ferre and a skillful 3rd from Foster. Guayas was proving a handful for Birmingham and his trickery led to pulling back level. The goals kept flowing with the half time score 7 v 7, Ferre with 4 for East Coast.

It was the experience that counted in the end, Sneekes leading his team with a commanding second half performance, including 4 goals and organising his defence to limit East Coast to few chances. Nino Amuli also hit a hat trick for the hosts as they dominated possession in the second half. Their fast movement and quickness of skill was impressive.

For East Coast it was a great experience and the young team learnt a lot. We want to thank Team United & Ikhlaq for organising the game, and look forward to playing them in the future.

Midlands test for East Coast

East Coast Futsal take on the current Midland National League leaders in Birmingham on Saturday night.

The game comes as preparations for the National league play offs and we are delighted to be playing one of the best Futsal teams in this country.  Team United Birmingham have been in excellent form and even have had former Premier League star, Richard Sneekers, making apperances for them.

The match will be played at the North Solihull Sports Centre, Conway Road, Birmingham between 7pm and 9pm.

East Coast will be taking a mix of first team regualrs with some trialists… more squad details to follow.

We would like to thank Ikhlaq Hussain for his help and openess at playing our team and look forward to the match.

Middlesbrough date announced!

East Coast Futsal Club travel to Middlesbrough on June 13th to play 2 matches.

The first is a Senior game against a mix of trailists and reserve players and the second will be the first game ever for East Coast’s under 15 squad.

Following these games will be Middlesbrough v Liverpool Futsal in the National League.

East Coast Part of England Day?

Discussions are underway with Middlesbrough Futsal to play matches against there men’s and under 16 teams on Saturday 12th June.  This would align with England Day planned by the FA.

Damon Shaw Middlesbrough Manager expressed his idea with us and we are putting together plans to play matches and then watch the England v Algeria game on the evening.

It will be an excellent experience for our young junior side in their first ever game and also for the mens team to play against one of the longest established National league clubs in the country.

Leeds Futsal Res 1 v 2 East Coast Futsal

East Coast Futsal were invited to play Leeds Futsal Reserves before the National league game between Leeds & Tranmere 18/4/10.

It was a perfect opportunity for us to invite a few trialist along to join the squad.  Albeit a shorter game the squad of 12 gelled nicely and played some very impressive Futsal against a Leeds team made up of fringe, uni and Barca players and trialists.

East Coast handed trials to Josh Crislow from All Stars, Gerrard Fenne from Real Mabrid and Nick Van East Riding’s keeper.

Stuart Wallace, fresh from 7 goals last week in the league, fired East Coast ahead after a spell of good possession but Leeds hit back on the break with a fluent counter attack to make it 1 v 1.  Leeds Keeper Jon Davison saved well from Luke Foster and Jamie Osborne on a number of occasions and Nick Van made a instinctive stop from close range to keep it level.

But it was the trickery of Fenne that put East Coast ahead, turning two players to poke home and leave East Coast 1 v 2 at half time.

The second half was more open with some end to end action, both teams hitting the post on 3 occasions and creating chances, but it was East Coast who maintained possession toward the end of the game Joe Sunter having 2 efforts saved in the closing stages and a tight defence ensuring the win.

East Coast Team – Josh Crislow, Jamie Osbourne,  - (All Stars)  Luke Foster, Ryan Hunter, Kieran Link, Dan Marston, Joe Sunter Stuart Wallace (East Coast)  Dave Sellers, Nick Van (East Riding College)  Gerrard Fenne (Real Mabrid)

Italy plans for East Coast

As part of the build up for the National league qualifiers East Coast Futsal Club have announced plans to tour Italy in July this year.

Futsal tour destination

Futsal tour destination

The team will travel to the Tuscany region and look to play 3 or 4 games against quality opposition to learn, become better and give us a better opportunity to get into the Futsal National league this time around.

We toured Dublin last year and realsied how much can be learn from playing teams at a higher level with international players in. Italy will be another step up and we are excited things are coming together. The lads will gel on the trip, enjoy themselves but come back with new ideas and a determination to have a team in the area represented at the highest Futsal standard in England!

Results v Leeds Futsal

Game 1 – East Coast 3 v Leeds Futsal 6

Leeds defended well in game one hitting us 4 times on the break to be 4-0 up half time.  Keeper John Davison was in fine form for Leeds at the start of the game saving 5 efforts on target.

A second half brace from Jamie Osborne either side of a Leeds goal and one from East Riding’s Dave Sellers made it 3 v 5 to Leeds but as East Coast pressed another slick Leeds counter made it 3 v 6.

Game 2 – East Coast 7 v Leeds Futsal 7

For the second week running a game has finished 7 v 7 at Bridlington Sports Centre!  Again Leeds dominated the first half, with a 1 v 4 scoreline.  Our young side did well but could not contain Leeds who raced into a 1 v 6 lead, with only a Luke Cowling goal registering for East Coast.

However, as you can find out in Futsal, momentum can shift quickly and in a crazy 10 minutes Jamie Osborne hit 3, Dave Sellers and player manager Steve Brennan replied before Ryan Goodworth hit a screamer to take East Coast into a 7 v 6 lead!

With 2 minutes left Leeds equalised through ex professional Junior Roberti, in a cameo appearance, to leave the game tied and all watching having seen some excellent Futsal action. It was an awesome day all round.

Thanks

Thanks so much to Junior Roberti & Martin Oxley, from Leeds Futsal for bringing over a very good Leeds squad!  It was great to have you as the first national league side to play our home venue!

Trialist, Jamie Osborne impressed with 2 goals in game 1 and a hatrick in game 2, regular Dan Marston is improving all the time and 15 year old Kieran Link’s defending has come on really well.

Ryan Goodworth our keeper must get a mention.  5 months ago he was gutted not to make the national league play off games but he has come back fitter, stronger and a better player in goal.  He even scored the best goal of the day!

The best outcome for East Coast was at one stage we had 4 out of 5 players on the pitch 17 or under against players with National league apprerances this year.  This is a brilliant expereince for our young team!

Thanks also to East Coast Coach, Adam Stubbs, for his hard work in training the last 4 weeks to prepare the lads, and everyone who came along to watch.  We hope you enjoyed the game.
