Liverpool 6 v 4 East Coast Futsal

East Coast missed out on their first points of the season in a close game at Greenbank Academy.

If it wasn’t for a lackluster first 5 minutes the young East Coast team would have probably got something out of the game but conceding 3 goals so early on just made the game an uphill battle.

East Coast gave national league debut’s to 3 players, Christlow, Gunn & Robinson, and all 3 impressed.

It was Robinson who scored East Coasts first half goal after 12 minutes, a fine solo run and finish and there could have been further goals had Link and Brennan combined better and both Link and Robinson hitting the side netting whilst well placed.  It was a good comeback considering the start and a boost for the team.

The second half saw an even match but poor defending allowed Liverpool to keep ahead.  James Gunn, 17, played a great match and his solo effort beating 3 Liverpool players before poking home was outstanding.  Robinson crashed home his second & there was also a brilliant 15 meter strike from Luke Foster another 17 year old.

The game was slightly marred by the sending off of Liverpool’s Ray Redmond.  East Coast Captain Brewster Frizzell went in for an overzealous slide tackle which Redmond reacted to by headbutting Frizzel in the face.  After a long fracas and both players suffering cuts Redmond was shown a straight red and Frizzell a yellow for the challenge.

At 5 v 3 East Coast had a glorious chance to get within one but Christlow hit the bar from a yard out and on the counter Liverpool struck the killer blow.

MOM – James Gunn

East Coast now face a 6 week break before the next league action but travel to Dublin on 23rd Jan as well as looking to arrange a couple of friendly fixtures in between games.

Real Mabrid Crowned Champions!

Congratulations Real Mabrid - East Coast Futsal League Champions 2010

Congratulations Real Mabrid - East Coast Futsal Champions 2010

Real Mabrid were crowned champions of the first ever East Coast Futsal League on Sunday at Bridlington Sports Centre. They beat East Riding College 2 – 0 in an enthralling game of Futsal that will be remembered fo along time!

The game was end to end stuff and was only decided by 2 own goals, both deflections in from corners. Mabrid’s awesome defensive display saw them keep the first ever clean sheet at the centre. Luke Duffill starred for Mabrid, whilst keeper Nick Van Heerden and playmaker Sam Belcher impressed for the college side, although they failed to test Jamie Simpson in the Mabrid goal on enough occasions.

Credit to Mabrid. They have fought hard throughout the season and deserve the title and £300 prize money. They also go onto represent the area in the FA Futsal Cup 2010.

East Coast apply to National League

East Coast Futsal Club handed in their application to the FA for Futsal National League entry this week.

The club. if elected will play in a play off with other new teams and even the possibility that this year the bottom team from the North, Grimsby will be involved too. This is scheduled the weekend of the 24th & 25th July 2010.

This is the second year that East Coast have applied losing out to Liverpool & Oldham in last years play offs. Both of those teams have held their own and to their credit had some very impressive results!

Real Mabrid’s big weekend!

Real Mabrid could be crowned East Coast Futsal league winners on Sunday, should they beat East Riding College.  This would also mean that they will be representing the league in the FA Futsal Cup later this year.

College have 4 games left and can reach 25 points but must win all remaining matches!

The game kicks off 10am at Bridlington Sports Centre with a double header, All Stars v Snainton followed by Manor FC against East Coast Futsal.

Middlesbrough Game reports

East Coast travelled to play BORO on Sunday in 2 friendly fixtures.

Middlesbrough  7  v  5  East Coast

The first saw the men’s team take on a mix of Boro first team, trialists and reserve players.

After a poor first half showing East Coast were down 4 v 1 but a more spirited display in the second, including a Jamie Osbrone hatrick, saw coast hit back.  Kieran Link also replied but Boro eventually came off winners 7 v 5.

Debutant from Whitby, Phil Spencer 19, impressed for East Coast which is good for the club.  With players from Scarborough, Whitby & Bridlington on show the club is extending its pull of players and is benefitting from the links that have been made.

Middlesbrough U 15′s   10  v  2  East Coast U 15′s

Middlesbrough were too strong for East Coast’s young team in their first ever game.  Coach Adam Stubbs has done a great job putting the team together in the last 3 months but inexpereince showed in their first game.

Middlesbrough took 2 or 3 fewer touches on the ball and passed it well to create opportunities which they took well.

East Coast had thier moments one 10 minute spell in the second half but could not find a way past the Boro keeper who produced a string a fine saves.

Thanks to Damon and the team for running the day for us.

East Coast on top in North Yorks Derby

East Coast came out on top in the Derby match with York University Futsal team, in Bridlington on Saturday.

York Uni brought a squad of 12 that had significantly improved since out last meeting in November, at the National play offs.

East Coast included new Man Josh Chrislow from All Stars for his first start for the club.

East Coast 6 v 6 York University

The first game saw East Coast race out the blocks, to take an early 4 – 0 lead, Gerard Ferre scoring 2, Josh Beach 1 and a Kieran Link strike.  York pulled 1 back, to make it 4 v 1 at half time.

More slick passing form Coast saw them extend the lead ealry in the second half to 6 v 1, Ferre completing his hat trick but to York Uni’s credit they kept in the game and finished their chances well to stun Coast and hit 5 on the bounce to leave the game tied at 6 v 6.

East Coast 6 v 4 York University

Another high scoring encounter and a similar pattern to the first game panned out between to two sides.  Coast hit the ground running with Link 2 and a  fine Chrislow effort making it 3 v 0.  York hit back to make it 3 v 2 only for Stuart Wallace to fire in a brace and extend the lead just before and after half time.

At 5 v 2 the game was comfortable for Coast, however a good spell of possession form York, and using the fly keeper well they were patient and again took their chances to make it 5 v 4.  In the dying minutes Ryan Goodworth saved twice for Coast and on a break away it was Spanish ace Ferre who poked home to ensure the result favoured the home team.

Both teams played a very competitive game but in good spirits and both teams have come along way since the meeting back in November.

Thanks to all of York University Futsal club for coming across and playing!

Team United Birmingham 15 v 9 East Coast Futsal

East Coast but up a spirited display against the current Midland National League leaders in Saturday’s friendly.  Full report to follow….

Team United Birmingham & East Coast

Team United Birmingham & East Coast

Real Mabrid’s Gerard Ferre produced a brilliant display for East Coast Futsal Club to score 5 goals in an exciting encounter at the North Solihull Sports Centre, Birmingham.

A team of 10 travelled also including Jamie Osborne from All Stars and Josh Beach from Snainton. Kieran Link, Ryan Hunter, Dan Marston, Ryan Goodworth, Joe Sunter, Luke Foster & Steve Brennan made up the rest of the squad.

It is Brennan’s aim to play the best possible competition before heading to the national league play offs in July and Team United Birmingham are high flying this year. Manager Ikhlaq Hussain has built a strong squad including former Premiership star Richard Sneekes, Engalnd Futsal players Nick Colley and Thomas Obasi as well as influential captain Emanual Guayas.

East Coast flew out of the traps and went into a 1 v 3 lead, 2 from Ferre and a skillful 3rd from Foster. Guayas was proving a handful for Birmingham and his trickery led to pulling back level. The goals kept flowing with the half time score 7 v 7, Ferre with 4 for East Coast.

Steve Brennan & Richard Sneekes

It was the experience that counted in the end, Sneekes leading his team with a commanding second half performance, including 4 goals and organising his defence to limit East Coast to few chances. Nino Amuli also hit a hat trick for the hosts as they dominated possession in the second half. Their fast movement and quickness of skill was impressive.

For East Coast it was a great experience and the young team learnt a lot. We want to thank Team United & Ikhlaq for organising the game, and look forward to playing them in the future.

Midlands test for East Coast

East Coast Futsal take on the current Midland National League leaders in Birmingham on Saturday night.
