East Coast 1 Tranmere Victoria 5

East Coast were left to rue a slow start and missed opportunities as they fell to a 5-1 defeat at home to Tranmere Victoria.

East Coast were looking to make a winning start at their new Ennerdale Leisure Centre home while Tranmere were looking to bounce back after an opening day defeat.

The home started with and experienced line-up of Ryan TateJoao RodriguesJon ProsserMatty Payne and Danny Horigold, but after a slow start they went behind inside two minutes to a well-organised Tranmere outfit.

Prosser had a chance to level the scores soon after but his effort flew over the bar after a rebounded effort.

The home side were still looking to settle into the game before finding themselves 3-0 down when Tranmere hit a quick fire double in the seventh minute.

Player coach Steve Brennan had a chance to pull one back coming on off the bench when he did well to make space for himself before seeing his shot blocked by the Tranmere goalkeeper.

Just minutes later the visitors added a fourth leading to East Coast calling a time-out.

However, the time-out failed to prevent Tranmere from adding a fifth five minutes before the break.

Rodrigues pulled a goal back for the home side when he turned his marker and fired the ball into the bottom left hand corner in the final minute of the first half.

East Coast came out much improved in the second period and troubled Tranmere with numerous efforts on goal.

Payne was looking threatening but failed to take his chances, coming closest when his left footed drive cannoned back off the up right.

Both sides came close but ultimately neither side added to their tally in what was a hard fought and even second half.

It was a frustrating afternoon for East Coast but the team will look to bounce back when they travel to Liverpool on the 13th November.

Crewsadors & Tranmere first up

East Coast Futsal will travel to Manchester on the 2nd October to play newly promoted Crewsadors in the first FA Futsal National league game of the 2011/12 Futsal Season.

Crewsadors beat Team Northumbria 6 v 5 in the playoff game after being 1 v 5 down at one point!

East Coast then take on Tranmere Victoria on the 16th October in the teams first home game. This promises to be an enthralling encounter after the 10 v 7 scoreline in the league las season and then unbelieveable 1 v 1 draw in the FA Futsal Cup.

Club ready for Fa Cup

East Coast Futsal Club are going through final preparations ahead of the FA Cup, at Hillsborough Leisure Centre, Sheffield on Saturday.

It is the first time the Club has been involved in the FA Cup and only 2 players in the squad have FA Cup experience.

The team are in arguably the hardest group with seasoned Futsal team Tranmere & BUCS finalists Team Northumbria.

With Middlesbrough most likely opponents in the stage final it is sure to be an exciting day of Futsal action for all involved.

Squad coming together

The East Coast Senior team is coming together after the first weeks of pre-season.

East Coast will play in the National League North and start on the 21st November against a well disciplined and strong Middlesbrough team.

New signings include Brewster Frizzell a former Hull City player and Marek Svec, a young slovakian, with experince of the Futsal game.  Both have impressed in the first few weeks and add to the strength of the squad.

East Coast apply to National League

East Coast Futsal Club handed in their application to the FA for Futsal National League entry this week.

The club. if elected will play in a play off with other new teams and even the possibility that this year the bottom team from the North, Grimsby will be involved too. This is scheduled the weekend of the 24th & 25th July 2010.

This is the second year that East Coast have applied losing out to Liverpool & Oldham in last years play offs. Both of those teams have held their own and to their credit had some very impressive results!

All Manor of teams ready for Futsal League

It has been a really positive showing for the first ever East Coast League.  The winners take home £300 prize money and a shot at getting into the FA Futsal Cup.

MANOR FC were one of the first teams to get involved, and what’s incredible is they are a group of mate ranging from 16-18yrs old who have just played street football!  Led by Lee Sutton the team are very focused on improving and I am sure will learn a lot and play some very good Futsal.

My favourite named team, REAL MABRID, from, if you have not guessed, Bridlington are put together with some players from the local 5 a side league as well as a few who have played Futsal previously.  Once they get going i think they will have a decent shout at taking home the £300.

Also confirmed are East Riding College.  Very new to Futsal but as with any Sports orientated college they have some quality players, and fit individuals and will cause teams a few problems.  The more they play the better the team will become and I am sure they will not be too far away from end of season honours.

We have 1 more place to fill so fingers crossed we will be ready to go for Sunday!  Games kick off from 11am at Bridlington Sports Centre.

Come and see for yourself why Futsal is growing rapidly in popularity in this country, and region.

Soccerena in Town!

A first for Scarborough this Friday night 4th September 2009. A Soccerena will roll into town as East Coast Futsal take over North Street car park for what promises to be a night not to miss!

The session will run 6.30pm to 9pm and will allow any youngsters 11 – 20 to come and try out Futsal, practice ball juggling, dribbling and Futsal skills and what’s best is…. the session is free!

We are running it alongside the 4youth project who run youth clubs in the town. We aim to provide these sessions in all areas of the borough over the winter and we are lucky enough to have the Soccerena at our first session.

Soccerena!?!?! Don’t know what one is?

What a typical arena looks like

What a typical arena looks like

Basically it is a temporary pitch that is transported to the venue and set up consisting of artificial pitch, perimeter boards and netting, creating a great atmosphere and playing area on any surface.
Beach, car park or grass; this structure is put up and taken down anywhere you please.

This is a great opportunity to come and discover Futsal and have a chance to play the game.

Learning Curve in 1st Game ever

Just to keep you up to speed, we had our first friendly, and first match ever, last Sunday (19/7/09) v Middlesbrough Futsal Club.

We won 1 of the 4 quarters we played, 5 v 3, which was good considering M’Boro have been playing for 4 years! Josh Davies scored twice from Scarborough Town Academy as well as Kieran Link scoring once who is only 14 yrs old! Defensively Ryan Hunter was our best player.

We have only had 8 training sessions so we did really well considering Middlesbrough are currently 2nd in the National league! (Hopefully we will be there next season!)
It was a huge learning curve for all involved but we feel more prepared and now know wheat to expect.

M’Boro played some very fast flowing futsal which was a good experience for the players who all had to grasp a lot very quickly, as well as the manager!!!

We want to thank Damon at M’Boro for organising the friendly and wish him and his team good luck for the rest of the season.
